I was really blessed this week by a sharing by one of my older brothers in Christ about his testimony. He said that God didn’t forgive him when he made his salvation decision a few years ago because he was more forgivable back then, but purely because God is rich in mercy. I am definitely also not more forgivable or worthy of forgiveness now. He forgives not because He is tolerant of our sin, but so that His kindness can lead us continually back to repentance. Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? [Romans 2:4]. God’s kindness is immeasurable beyond all the riches of this world.
My wealth is in the cross. There’s nothing more I want than just to know His love. My heart is set on Christ and I will count all else as loss. The greatest of my crowns mean nothing to me now. For I counted up the cost and all my wealth is in the cross. Yes, all my wealth is in the cross. [‘Crowns’ – Hillsong]
